When is a #SnyderCut not necessarily a “Snyder”
Still, there’s nothing that a good hashtag does not solve, so when Carr tweeted a photo in this week’s recording – including a shot of himself rigged up to get the Green Lantern costume CGI on – with the pound sign – driven call #RestoreTheSnyderVerse the instructor himself was far too happy to join the choir. Specifically, he posted his own photo (on Vero) of the recording showing Carr standing in what appears to be a driveway so he could be socially distant green screened in the part of the room Stewart happened to be patrolling in Snyder’s vision for the stage.
As with pretty much everything Snyder does too late, though, there are some interesting streams of fan obsession running through this fun little back and forth. It’s not for nothing that Carr published his photo right after Finn Wittrock was thrown in Green lantern show – or after social media started urging the series to use Stewart, a rare prominent black superhero in the DC cannon, and happily remembered from DCAU’s own Justice Leagueinstead of the buffoonic Guy Gardner. It’s not entirely clear what the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse idea entails, though – presumably a second Justice League suggested by the cliffhanger plot elements included in Snyder’s version of the first? But people will definitely want it restored and with such zeal that they were willing to hit shift-3 on their keyboards to achieve it.
