If you bought a new Oculus Quest 2 hoping to experience games from the now defunct Oculus Go, I have bad news: The company has decided not to include support for Go titles on Quest 2, confirms Oculus’ CTO consultant John Carmack at Twitter.
When Oculus Quest 2 was launched three days ago, some people noticed that there was no feature in the user interface that allowed users to access Go apps and games, something the original Quest headset contained. Carmack did not go into great detail as to why support was not added other than “[he] completely lost the internal debate on backward compatibility. ”
Oculus Go was discontinued in June, but last year Carmack tweeted that Oculus planned to bring Go emulation to Quest so users could play games originally released on Go for the then-flagship virtual reality headset. Not all apps and games released on the go were backwards compatible, but Quest owners had access to a decent library of titles released on Oculus ̵
