A young boy was rushed to the hospital after he had contracted a carnivorous bacterium on a Maryland beach.
Brittany Carey shared two graphic images of her son's legs, where the bacteria began eating away on his flesh in three spots.
Carey said in a Facebook post on Saturday that her parents had taken her son to a beach day off the coast of Ocean City on June 23.

Tuesday morning there were open wounds that developed, but I thought he was screaming them and made them worse. Only to find when I picked him up on Tuesday, they were much bigger and much more, "she added.
Carey said she took her son to the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland, where doctors told her that he had a common marine bacterium called Vibrio.
The bacteria can also be found in raw, polluted fish and shellfish.
Carey said she shared the Facebook record as a warning for other parents.
