NEW YORK – The Yankees are finalizing a deal to acquire Rangers infielder Rougned Odor, a source told MLB.com on Tuesday. The clubs have not announced the transaction.
Texas is expected to take on almost all of the remaining $ 27 million on Odor’s contract over the next two seasons. The 27-year-old was appointed to the task on March 29, and projects were to serve as depth for New York.
It is not yet known what the Yankees will send to the Rangers. MLB Network insider Joel Sherman reported that two prospects will travel to Texas.
Left-handed hit Odor hit .1
Odor has only played second base in his big league career, a position regularly staffed by DJ LeMahieu, the Yankees’ most valuable player the last two seasons.
