WWE Raw results, recap, ratings: Drew McIntyre takes Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman out

As WrestleMania Backlash approaches, WWE is in the process of building hype for the May 16 event. Monday night, the topics between WWE champion Bobby Lashley and Backlash challengers Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman took center stage.

In tonight’s main event, Lashley Strowman battled in untitled action. McIntyre, however, is not the type of man to stand still at, and by the end of the night he had entered the ring and laid out both Lashley and Strowman. In response, it was announced that Raw’s next week would feature a singles match between McIntyre and Lashley.

CBS Sports was with you all night, bringing you results and highlights from the ThunderDome inside the Yuengling Center.

McIntyre lays out Lashley and Strowman

After an argument broke out between Braun Strowman and Drew McIntyre to open the show, a coin toss took place to determine which man would meet Bobby Lashley in singles action. Strowman won the roll, but McIntyre promised to send Strowman to “Claymore Land”

; after the match. McIntyre and Strowman traded words again later in the show when Strowman interrupted a McIntyre interview.

Bobby Lashley defeated Braun Strowman via pinfall with a spear. The two big men met power by force early on before Strowman went to a fast-running power slam before Lashley was able to musk himself out of the hold. Shortly after the start of the match, McIntyre’s music started and he took to the ring. Strowman climbed out of the ring to confront McIntyre, but was hit from behind by Lashley, who offered McIntyre a fist. McIntyre sat in the commentary for the match before finally dealing words with Strowman, which led a distracted Strowman to be hit by a Lashley spear in the end. McIntyre then went into the ring and hit both men with Claymores to end the show.

This really did nothing to build the issues between Lashley, Strowman and McIntyre. The hint that McIntyre and Lashley could team up to get rid of Strowman was actually never in play, and the main event match was short, and a large part was lost to a commercial break. There’s not much they can do to add extra interest to the WrestleMania Backlash match, but the little they can do was not really achieved here. Grade: C
