Water movie with flying film shows dramatic engine failure in the air

An American woman has filmed the moment when one of the engines on his Delta Air Lines flight suffered a catastrophic failure.

Rebecca Needham was aboard the plane, from Atlanta to Baltimore, who was on the road an hour before the dramatic event, where a piece of engine is thought to have come loose and caused the engine to fail.

Needham said: "We are not sure why the plane was malfunctioning or what the cause was. They said the plane will now be retired."

A Delta Air Lines official stated: "The flight crew from Delta aircraft 1

425 from Atlanta to Baltimore chosen to redirect to Raleigh, NC out of great caution after receiving an indication of a problem with one of the aircraft engines.

"The flight landed without incident and customers were reaccommodated on an alternative aircraft. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience this diversion may have caused. "

However, the passengers on the flight were less sanguine, but some went to Twitter after their experience.

The plane involved in the engine failure event in yesterday was an MD-88, an aircraft currently being phased out by airlines worldwide.
