(WJW) – You can see “Pink Moon” light up in the night sky this month.
According to the old farmer’s almanac, the pink moon rises on the night of Monday 26 April. It is the first supermoon in 2021.
It will reportedly be visible after sunset and when maximum lighting at. 23.33 EST.
If you are interested in getting the best view, Almanac says you should find an open area and look at the moon as it rises just above the horizon. Experts say this is the point where it looks like the biggest.
Pink Moon does not actually look pink. The almanac reports that the moon will be golden in color near the horizon and fade to light white as it glides overhead.
The pink moon allegedly got its name because it corresponded to the early spring flowering of wildflower phlox subulata, commonly known as “mosrosa.”
There will be two supermoons in 2021, reports Old Farmer’s Almanac. The second takes place on May 26th.
