Victoria Beckham looks back at the moment she realized it was time to part ways with the Spice Girls.
The 46-year-old star wrote a letter to her future self for British Vogue in which she reflected on a crucial moment in her career that involved Elton John.
“Remember many years ago seeing your dear friend Elton John on stage in Las Vegas. He performed ‘Tiny Dancer’ as if it were the first time and you realized it was like oxygen to him,” she recalled. “It was a life-changing moment – while singing and dancing was fun for you, it was not your passion. That day you started your quest to uncover your own dreams.”
She added: “It was time to move away from being a spice girl.”

The Spice Girls released a number of successful albums in the 1990s, before each member, including Beckham, embarked on solo careers. They later reunited for a tour that started in late 2007.
Another reunion came at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. In 2019, the crew started another reunion tour, but Beckham did not choose. At the time, she said she felt “like a very different person” than she was when she was a spice girl.
For John’s part, he has had several homes in Las Vegas: including one from 2004-2009 and another from 2011-2018.

“For the first time, you ventured alone, and it was scary,” Beckham continued in his letter.
She added: “It was scary to close a chapter that defined you. I know you’re still reinventing yourself, taking on new challenges and ignoring those no owners. You always look beyond conventional wisdom to pave your own path.”
