Valadao – a milk producer who served in the House from 2013 to 2019 – was narrowly ousted by Cox in 2018 and lost by only 862 votes.
According to data on the census, approx. 74 percent of the district’s population speaks Spanish, making Valadao one of the few Republicans who will represent a majority-Spanish district.
