Utah man wins ESPN March Madness bracket challenge

LEHI, Utah – The NCAA Men’s Tournament was a roller coaster of emotions for many people, but perhaps no more a lucky Utah man.

Chris Jacobsen, a dentist in Lehi, beat more than 14 million other people and walked away with the winning spot in ESPN’s 2021 Tournament Challenge.

Jacobsen said there was a little bit of strategy, but most luck, when he filled out his almost perfect March Madness bracket.

After the second round, Jacobsen (whose username for the competition is “chrizzlybear”

😉 remarked that he was in 400th place.

But from this point on, he did not miss a single winner.

Saturday night’s Final Four thriller between # 1-ranked Gonzaga and 11ththseed underdog UCLA was, however, a whole nail-biter for Jacobsen.

“UCLA made the binding setback and I’m like, ‘I can not take double overtime. I can not take mental or physical double overtime! ‘”He said. Then Suggs runs down, makes the unlikely shot, and my wife and I just both eyes looked at each other. I shouted a little and she reminded me that our one-year-old was sleeping. ”

The feeling was surreal.

“I do not kidnap you – I became numb,” he laughed. “And it’s like, ‘Why do I care so much?’ I was just about to reevaluate my life – why do I care so much? ”

Jacobsen’s predictions were so nearly perfect that his prediction for the final score of the championship match was only out of eight points.

Although he was the clear winner, he is not guaranteed a prize. Instead, he participates in a raffle along with the rest of the top 1% holders for a single grand prize: an all-inclusive trip for two to Hawaii in the 2021 Maui Jim Maui Invitational basketball tournament as well as $ 10,000 in Amazon gift cards.
