Futures tied to the S&P 500 fell 0.2%, suggesting that the broad market measurement could pull back some of Thursday’s gains after the opening clock. Nasdaq-100 contracts faltered while Dow Jones Industrial Average futures fell 0.3%.
Stocks have been turbulent in recent days, after optimism over the development of effective coronavirus vaccines drove the Dow industry to a record high at the start of the week. Surgical coronavirus infection, signs that the economy has lost momentum, and the Treasury’s decision to let more emergencies from the Federal Reserve expire, have since removed some of that cheers.
Stocks are likely to fluctuate in the coming months before accumulating in 2021, as the rollout of vaccines allows the shards of the world economy to reopen, Mr. Jackson.
