“Dancing with the Stars”

; gets a new host for season 29.

USA TODAY

Here, Tyra Banks hopes can “smize” through the harsh reactions to her “Dancing with the Stars” premiere.

On Monday, the model and entrepreneur debuted with his ballroom hosting the competition series, after ABC announced in July that Banks, 46, would replace Tom Bergeron, who has hosted the series since its launch in 2005, and Erin Andrews, who came on board for Season 18 in 2014.

“Banks respected Bergeron in a statement released by ABC and production team BBC Studios at the time the news broke.” Tom has set a strong stage and I’m excited to continue the legacy, “she said.

Unfortunately, many Twitter users felt that the new host fell flat.

“The problem with Tyra Banks as host is that you have replaced the heart of the show,” wrote @ hmarie12. “Nothing against her, but it just sounds so off when you hear her voice instead of Tom Bergerons. In a year where people WANT to comfort with the familiar … it’s just a really bad decision.”

@TheGinaP quickly got tired of Banks and wrote: “2 minutes in and I’m already over #TyraBanks as host.”

User @Grannaland tuned in to the premiere, wanting to give the banks “the benefit of the doubt.”

“Unfortunately, I did not think she did a very good job,” read the tweet. “In my opinion, she did a lot of posing, talking way too fast at times, interrupting the judges several times, accusing the judges of ‘casting shadows’ (really?)”

“I love Tyra and she’s a wonderful host … when it’s her OWN show lol, so right now I’m not a fan, hopefully she’s better tuned,” shared @NicolesFandoms. “But Tom and Erin are MISSED, they brought so much heart to DWTS!”

Although the number of negative posts apparently outweighs the less critical ones, some supported Twitter users were high on their love of banks.

“I’m torn,” @bowtiedbeyonce tweeted. “I loved Tom, but I also thought Tyra was great. Having only one host took away so much of the unnecessary filler that has plagued DWTS for years. The show went really fast and I never got bored, unlike to previous years. “

“Dancing With the Stars premieres & my girl Tyra Banks hosts,” wrote @CZoranj. “I’m watching every episode this season.”

“The introduction was amazing @tyrabanks that dress is incredible,” raved @ Roe30111524.

Ahead of Monday’s debut, Banks shared his excitement on social media.

“Can’t wait to show you all my premiere outfit tonight!” she wrote in an Instagram that followed another promotional post.

“The day has come, you, and it’s going to be BIG!” Banks promised. “Who’s ready to DANCE ?!! πŸ’ƒπŸΎπŸ”₯ Set TONIGHT at 8 | 7c on ABC to see me host and these stars light up live in the ballroom!”
