Tucker Carlson blaster Rep. Ilhan Omar and she calls him a "racist fool"

Carlson blasted Omar for her criticism of the United States and said the congressman is "living proof that the way we practice immigration has become dangerous to that country."

Omar was born in Somalia. Her family had to flee during the country's civil war. After four years in a refugee camp in Kenya, she arrived in the United States at the age of 12.

Carlson quoted this asylum as evidence of American generosity – and said that Omar is ungrateful. He called Omar's criticism of the United States in a segment that began with a banner that read "Dems want you to believe America is a terrible place."

"After all America has done for Omar and for her family, she hates this country more than ever," Carlson claimed.

He quoted a recent profile of Omar in the Washington Post describing her view of the United States as a country that "failed to live up to its founding ideals, a place that had disappointed her and so many immigrants, refugees, and minorities like her. "

This is a common criticism planned by progressives like Omar ̵

1; of an America that has knocked down many of its citizens.

Carlson fired it and dug into Omar.

"Almost every public statement she accuses Americans of bigotry and racism." This is an immoral country, she says. "She has disgusted contempt for the United States and for its people," Carlson said. "It should worry, not just because Omar is now a congressional member. Ilhan Omar is a living proof that the way we practice immigration has become dangerous to this country. A system designed to strengthen America, instead undermine it. His statement was an extraordinary leap – from the legislature's concern over American injustices to a mistaken claim that immigrants like her "undermine" the country.

Carlson wondered if "we might import people from places that are merely antithetic to ours."

Supporters of Omar, one of the first Muslim women elected to Congress, said Carlson's comment was a racist rant.

Omar himself responded quickly via Twitter: "Don't lie, it's a little fun watching a racist fool like this crying about my presence in the congress."

She added two crying grinning emoji and said, "No lies will Stomp my love for this country or my decision to make our union more perfect. Just get used to calling me Congresswoman! "

Omar's tweet was a response to a short clip of Carlson's segment submitted by Andrew Lawrence, an employee of Media Matters, a progressive group opposing Fox and pushing advertisers to shun shows like "Tucker Carlson tonight."

Lawrence called Tuesday night anti-Omar comment "an absolutely fantastic racist attack."
