The Dolphins did not give quarterback Tua Tagovailoa any playing time in their Week Five route of the 49ers, but they do give him a look at this week’s rout of the Jets.
Tagovailoa came into the game with less than three minutes to play, and the Dolphins leading 24-0. It’s his first NFL regular season action, and it’s also his first game action of any kind since he injured his hip in Alabama last season.
It will be a brief look at choices in the first round, but he could see more playing time if the team continues with a series of skewed victories in the coming weeks.
Ryan Fitzpatrick was 18-of-27 in 191 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions to put the Dolphins on track for a 3-3 record. He will almost certainly remain the starter when the team returns from its farewell to meet the Aries in week eight.
