Timothée Chalamet puts rumors to rest.
The “Dune” actor opened up to paparazzi photos that made headlines around the world last year and showed him kissing then-girlfriend Lily-Rose Depp. The two, who had just finished promoting their film “The King” at the Venice Film Festival, were pictured on a boat in Capri, Italy.
Various theories were hovering over photos (mostly that they were a PR setup), but Chalamet set the record straight in a GQ profile released Thursday.
“I went to bed that night and thought it was one of the best days of my life,” the star said “Call Me by Your Name”. “I was on this boat all day with someone I really loved, and closed my eyes and was undoubtedly like ‘It was amazing.'”
“And then wake up to all these images and feel embarrassed, and looks like a real one nob? All pale? ” He continued. “And then there are people like: This is a PR stunt.”
“A PR stunt ?!, ”Exclaimed Chalomet. “Do you think I want to look like this in front of you all ?! ”
Chalamet and Depp, the daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis, dated for over a year and maintained an extremely private relationship, but have since split.
Chalamet has previously talked about his reluctance to date – especially the word “date”.
“Date is very much a scary word, because then that connection has been established,” the actor told W Magazine in 2018. “You can always see people on an early date behavior.”
Since divorcing Depp, Chalamet was spotted kissing and having fun with colleague Eiza González in June.
Maybe we will soon hear the Chalamets behind the scenes take these photos.
