TIME was widely spotted after the magazine unveiled its upcoming cover photo on Friday ahead of the upcoming summit between a pair of sunglasses-wearing President Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“This cover tries to make Joe Biden look cool, but even in their flattering depiction of his face ̵
The illustration shows Biden in his signed aviation shadows with the caption “Taking on Putin.”
PREGNANT MIGRANT GIRL AT TIME Magazine cover was not separated from mother, says family
TIME spent years publishing unflattering illustrations of former President Donald Trump, complete with a few covers showing his “meltdown” phases and another set of covers showing Trump’s oval office filled with water in a “stormy” situation . But the unflattering Trump illustrations are not the only time the magazine used the cover to throw him in a negative light.
“I can not help but remember the front page of TIME where their editors pushed a lie by editing a Honduran child who they claimed to have been separated from his parents by Trump on the front page with Trump – it turned out that the child had not been separated at all, but that image had been used to destroy Trump, which was their whole biased game for four years, ”Young said.
In 2018, it was revealed that a little girl shown in a viral photo who cried as a U.S. border patrol agent detained her mother – and was used by TIME magazine to symbolize the Trump administration’s family separation policy – was never separated from her mother, according to her own father.
TIME, which stood by the controversial cover despite the new information, called it “an image that America could not ignore” and interviewed the photographer, just as other outlets did. TIME even followed up with another article solely about the cover and the “story behind” it.
TOOBIN, CUOMO SCANDALS PROVE THAT FREEDOMS CAN GET AWAY WITH SOMETHING ON CNN, EXPERTS SAY
The magazine even created Trump and Putin together ahead of their summit back in 2018. Now that Biden is in office, readers have taken note of the hypocrisy.
“Giving him a pipeline of leverage to Europe does NOT take him on. It gives in,” replied former National Intelligence (DNI) director Richard Grenell, while National Review’s Kyle Smith added, “DNC’s press releases are not that sycophantic.”
“Wondering why there was no such ‘Trump takes Soleimani’ cover,” one reader thought.
Many others have taken to Twitter with feedback on the cover, including Real Clear Politics’ Tom Bevan, who refers to the press asking about Biden’s choice of ice cream last month.
