Tiger Woods can not remember driving on the day of the accident, as the authorities retrieve black box data

As the investigation into the February 23 Tiger Woods single-car accident continues, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department has “executed a search warrant to obtain data from the black box in the car,” according to USA today.

Woods crashed his Genesis SUV just south of Los Angeles in an urban area where, according to officers, many car accidents occur due to the way the road is structured. At the time, LASO said the crash was “purely unintentional,” but it went back a bit on Tuesday.

“The sheriff talked about the information that was known at the time and said it appeared to be a traffic accident,”

; LASO said in a statement. “However, the investigation of the traffic collision is ongoing (and the traffic investigators have not made any conclusions about the cause of the collision.”

An order was obtained to have the black box as “a routine part of [the sheriff department’s] probe. “This is done to determine if a crime has been committed,” LASO said USA today. But because officers determined at the scene of the accident that there was “no evidence of disability,” as they said last week, Woods’ blood was not taken from the hospital by the ward.

Tiger had no recollection of the events of the morning of February 23, according to a statement on a search warrant obtained by USA todayneither at the scene of the accident nor later when he was driven to the hospital.

Woods was initially unconscious after the crash in Southern California when a resident found the golfer trapped in a rental car and with blood on his face and chin, according to the statement submitted by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Johann Schoegl.

“Deputies asked him how the collision occurred” at the crash site, according to the statement. “The driver said he did not know and could not even remember driving … The driver was treated for his injuries at the hospital and was asked again how the collision occurred. He repeated that he did not know and could not remember that have driven. “

Tiger has a history of driving during a disability. He was arrested in Florida in 2017 after falling asleep at the wheel with several drugs in his system. However, he became more or less aware that it was even part of the investigation when officers examined him the morning of his crash. As USA today noted that there should be a probable cause of a crime in order to obtain medical data now. Getting the black box is a much lower bar at this point (only probable cause of an offense) and a much more routine part of any investigation.

The path Woods’ car took is absolutely terrifying. He walked over a median, up the street the wrong way, past a massive light pole and down into a small gulley on the other side where it rolled over. All without proof of any slippage marks or that he has ever hit the breaks.

The information about the black box was supposed to reveal more of what happened, though only Woods could potentially know the full story. Presumably, LASO will release this information in the coming days as well as a more robust conclusion about what they believe happened. They could also charge Woods with some sort of crime depending on what the black box reveals, though that probably wouldn’t be serious.

Woods was recently moved to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he is undergoing further treatment for several breaks in his right leg as well as his ankle. Tiger was originally transported to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, which was closer to where his car accident happened. He was treated there for a few days before being moved to the more private Cedars-Sinai.

His recovery time will be long and there are questions about how healthy he will be as a human being, not to mention if he will ever compete again as a professional athlete. Woods appears to be in a good mood after the tribute that his colleagues paid him last week at the WGC-Workday Championship at The Concession by wearing red and black Sunday to the final round.
