UPDATE: Max Weinbach has shared some early details on Galaxy S21 Ultra camera setup. The updated story continues below:

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra specifications and display

Like the Samsung Galaxy S21, the Ultra-branded model is rumored to be shipped with the unannounced Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 in the US. On the other hand, buyers in Europe will have to settle for the Exynos 1000 or 2100 (the name needs to be confirmed).

These chipsets must sit next to at least 1

28 GB of storage and 12 GB of RAM in all markets. MicroSD card support is very likely too, although other models with extra storage space and RAM are assumed to be under development.

On the software side of things, you can expect Android 11 and One UI 3.0 to be pre-installed. The leaked reproductions confirm that customers will be able to interact with the software on a massive 6.9-inch AMOLED screen with subtle curves on both sides.

Samsung has opted for minimal frames and an even thinner chin beyond a centered hole for the selfie camera, where the latter has become the brand’s signature over the past twelve months.

Anyone who is concerned about the battery will be happy to hear Galaxy S21 Ultra is rumored to have a 5,000 mAh battery life its predecessor. Thanks to better efficiency in the chipset and the 5G modem department, longer battery life is almost guaranteed.
When it comes to overall size, the Galaxy S21 Ultra is slightly smaller than the Galaxy S20 Ultra (166.9 x 76 x 8.8 mm) at 165.1 x 75.6 x 8.9 mm. For further reference, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra measures 164.8 x 77.2 x 8.1 mm.

Samsung will continue the massive camera bump trend

When we turn the Galaxy S21 Ultra around, it is clear that the smartphone is following in the footsteps of its smaller siblings. It adopts the new camera bump design that Samsung is boiling up, meaning one that wraps around the edges and highlights individual sensors.

But the large size of the bump seems to suggest Samsung wants to take the setup to another level. The leaked displays reveal plans for an LED flash and four cameras, up from three on the Galaxy S21.

Max Weinbach suggested that a new version of the 108 megapixel sensor introduced on the Galaxy S20 Ultra can be expected along with a 16 megapixel camera. The latter may support ultra-wide-angle functions.

The last two cameras offer 10 megapixel resolutions. Recent rumors suggest that they could be periscope and telezoom sliders, enabling a much more advanced zoom system.

When will the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G be released?

Samsung introduced the Galaxy S20 series in February and released smartphones in March. But with Huawei now unable to compete outside of China and other competitors releasing their devices months later, Samsung is shifting up its launch timeline.

Steve Hemmerstoffer, Max Weinbach and Android Central has confirmed recent reports of a Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 + and Galaxy S21 Ultra unveiling in January followed by a release in February. It is a whole month earlier than usual and means that there will be few competing flagships on the market.

Unfortunately, there is no word on pricing plans at the moment. But given the criticism Samsung faced due to the high Galaxy S20 prices, the Galaxy S21 Ultra should be a bit cheaper than its predecessor.

Specifically, Samsung is likely to price the Galaxy S21 Ultra at $ 1,299 in the US as the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, rather than $ 1,399 as the Galaxy S20 Ultra.
