The road of exile: Synthesis expansion announced, launches March 8

Grinding Gear Games has announced Exile path: Synthesis the latest extension to its long-running online action RPG. The expansion, which introduces new "memory fragment" cards and a card-building Memory Nexus meta-game, will be on March 8 on PC. Xbox One follows March 11. The PlayStation 4 version – the game's first look on the console ̵

1; appears sometime in mid-March.

New Extension, New Meta Game

Synthesis as previous extensions, will add a new meta game that offers unique progression and a new challenge. Through your travels in Path of Exile you will encounter a character named Cavas who will open a portal to one of his memories – a side card full of monsters.

Previous extensions added similar features, but this extension has a new twist. The memories are overdue. They close around the player, who will try to stabilize the memory by tagging key slots before memory is completely lost. If you succeed, you will be rewarded with a Memory Fragment.

The fragments can later be used in Memory Nexus, a hub that floats in a sea of Cavas & # 39; memories. There, players can insert the fragments they have earned into a memory card. Each fragment can only adapt to others in certain ways and contain randomized modifiers. The goal is to arrange the fragments in a way that gives a path to the best loot without creating a stack of modifiers that make the completion of the card too difficult.

Earlier extensions added similar features, but this extension has a new twist.

As with most things in Path of Exile this system becomes very complex, very fast. Players can easily get over 10 modifiers. Some may be beneficial and increase the decline of some goods, but many will be hostile, making enemies more difficult.

Chris Wilson, co-founder of Grinding Gear Games, says adaptation is the goal. While players can load fragments to make a challenging and rewarding experience, it's just as important to take it easy. GGG believes that the high-end will appeal most to Twitch streamers, who will see overcoming the most insane Fragment combinations as an honor mark.

Synthesis also adds the functions of Betrayal the last expansion to the core game. Players will still be able to hunt the immortal syndicate.

Even More Ways to Fine-tune Your Gear

A The Path of Exile expansion would not be complete without adding subtle ways to fine-tune your gear. This time, players will win new freight items as loot from Memories. These elements have some modifiers that are "damaged" and can never be changed. Although often a disadvantage, players will be elated when they find a piece of gear with great statistics on "damaged" mods they want. This means that they will be able to change the gear to their heart content without losing these bonuses. In Memory Nexus, players will be able to synthesize multiple fractured elements to create new objects. These elements will have modifiers based on what is synthesized. This means that players can put together several elements with desirable mods to create a single, top-tier piece set.

It's all quite complex, and players can go as far down the rabbit hole as they want.

It's rather complex and like with Memory Nexus, players can go as far down the rabbit hole as they want. Just tossing broken pieces with good courage are good results, but hardcore players will gently count the results to try to figure out what is needed to earn the best gear theoretically possible.

You're in an action RPG, Harry!

The new extension also comes with some quality updates. Balance changes, focusing on "handcasting" skills, will improve discarded skills by clicking directly on an enemy. GGG wants to counter the trend towards more passive skills, such as totems and traps. Aside from better balance, this should encourage players interested in a traditional spelling zapping character, as opposed to one who calls something to their detriment.

This will be further promoted by two new archetypes. One is based on chaos damage and has a new skill called Soulrend, while the other is based on sacred damage and has a new skill called Holy Blast. These archetypes and skills will play some new opportunities if they want to use these injuries.

Of course, there are new unique things, although only 16 this time. GGG says the game already has more than 850 unique items, and they have hit a limit to add more without starting to feel like fillers.

Launch Next Month

Exile's Way: Synthesis will launch March 8 on PC and March 11 on Xbox One. It also starts sometime in mid-March on PS4. This version will be the game's debut on Sony's console, and GGG plans to reveal the exact release date a few weeks before launch.
