The researcher may have discovered massive crater under the Greenland ice sheet

In a rare discovery, geologists say they might have identified a 22-km-wide crater buried nearly two miles under ice in North-West Greenland. It would only be the second "crash crater" ever discovered, and it was probably caused by a meteor crashing into the ground before Greenlandic glaciers were formed. The gigantic depression was discovered using two NASA satellites and 25 years of aerogeophysical data collected in Greenland. The researchers note that the possible crater is too circular to be caused by volcanic activity and that it is probably due to an old space rock crashing into the earth's surface. The first underglacial crater discovered is under the Hiawatha glacier, which is also located in Greenland and only 1

14 miles away. But the marvelous thing is that the two giant craters seem to have been created by various meteor storms. The ice covering the day's discovery is older than the ice covering the Hiawatha crater. Scientists analyzed the chances of happening and called it "unlikely, but not impossible."
