BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WTHR) – Deputies arrested a man for allegedly breaking into John Mellencamp's home in Monroe County.
Monroe County Sheriff's deputies responded to a home alarm call.
Deputies found the security gate had been rammed open. Police say they found a red Jeep Cherokee near the home.
Deputies found Robert Carter, who said he should "arrest Mellencamp to support a government," which Carter does not support.
Carter admitted to kicking in the door of the home. No one was at home at the time of arrest.
Carter has been charged with burglary, housing and criminal offenses.
The police confirm that the latest social media has made a lawyer aware of Carter. [1
Carter was released by court the following day.
