A heavily armed man arrested a day after last week’s deadly Capitol uprising had sent text messages threatening to kill the mayor of Washington as well as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, according to a government memo.

Cleveland Grover Meredith was armed with an assault-style rifle, a Glock firearm with high-capacity magazines and more than 2,500 rounds of ammunition, according to papers filed Wednesday in federal court, requesting that Meredith be kept without bond.

Authorities say Meredith texted several people about plans for violence in the days before he arrived in Washington late January 6 from Colorado. Earlier in the day, outraged supporters of President Donald Trump angered as Congress prepared to certify the election result of President-elect Joe Biden stormed through the U.S. capital. At least five people, including a police officer in the Capitol, died as a result of the violence.

Meredith, in one of the texts, says that “we will surround DC and slowly narrow.” Apparently he thought law enforcement was monitoring his communication, he later sent a text saying, “I’m harmless … I’m not firing until I have ordered SIR!”

After receiving texts describing the uprising, Meredith replied “Ready to remove more skulls from the shoulders.” Shortly after, defendant sent a text saying, “I’m so ready to (explicitly) SOME TRAITORS UP.”

On January 7, Meredith sent a text saying, “I can walk over to the mayor’s office and put a 5.56 in her skull (explicitly).” He also wrote, “I hope you’re reading this Mr. FBI agent.”

Later: “Thinking of going over to Pelosi’s (explicit) speech and putting a bullet in her noggin on Live TV.”

He then sent a text saying, “I predict that within the next 12 days, many in our country will die.”

Meredith also committed an attack on Thursday, the papers said, hitting a victim, knocking him to the ground and attacking him further.

Meredith faces charges of communication between threats and gun violations between states.

“A clearly disturbed, confused and dangerous individual who fantasizes about committing horrific acts of violence and takes countless steps to carry them out by driving across several states with a trailer loaded with thousands of ammunition and several firearms – including an assault rifle – should do not remain in the community, “the federal archives say.
