The Chevrolet Performance eCrate is here to make electric powertrain switching easier than ever

The 60-kWh Electric Connect and Cruise package is ready for sale in the second half of 2021 and includes most of what’s on the Blazer: a 200-hp electric motor, a 60-kWh battery pack, DC-to-AC converter that drives the electric motor, DC-to-DC converter, which drives other built-in systems (think accessories such as radio and lighting), controllers, wiring and water pumps for heating and cooling the batteries.

Chevrolet Performance even certifies dealers and aftermarket companies like Electric Connect Cruise and Connect installers and makes sure they get the right training and the right equipment to work on these sets. Michigan’s Lingenfelter Performance Engineering – as in the fast Corvette people ̵

While 200 hp is a decent upgrade for older cars, GM also knows its customer base with performance parts (and SEMA, whose virtual show included the K5 Blazer-E unveiling) well. The company says they are evaluating offering additional high-performance eCrate packages as well as new battery configurations. Further afield, GM plans to offer eCrates, which offers the modular Ultium battery system that goes into the new GMC Hummer EV.
