If you are a super fan of Taco Bell wishing to stay at the Mexican fast food chain's limited hotel, you are already late .
All available rooms were shaken just two minutes to make reservations. And with that, Yum Brands unit again showed how much customers love Taco Bell.
The chain began to make reservations at. A Thursday for the approx. 70 rooms at hotel Palm Springs.
Less than a minute after the bookings went live, the website was already overwhelmed by the demand. Some users attempting to book a room received a message saying that the site experienced "higher than normal traffic" and "keeping your crossed fingers on the update button."
"Taco Bell fans are truly unique, and today was one of the best expressions of the fandom yet," Taco Bell's Chief Global Brand Officer Marisa Thalberg said in a statement.
Rooms started at $ 1
Taco Bell expected great demand for the hotel. The chain's US president, Julie Fels's Masino, said that only one employee from a corporate store will win a coveted space as part of a customer service competition.
"We're really trying to make it a fan experience," Masino said in an interview last week.
Guests can look forward to tasting Taco Bells on the V Palm Springs restaurant menu, created by Rene Pisciotti the same product developer who invented Nacho Fries. Among the menu items: a Caesar salad with grilled chicken containing croutons made from Mexican rice and chicken marinated in Nacho Fries & spices. Traditional Taco Bell favorites will also be available.
The Bell also has a gift shop with exclusive Taco Bell themed clothing and an on-site salon with Taco Bell-inspired nail art and hair styling. To round off the experience, hotel guests can expect performances from up-and-coming musicians, feature-length screenings and a lounge inspired by Mountain Dew Baja Blast.
Taco Bell has a history of connecting with its customers through off-minded experiences. Fans can get married in a Taco Bell-themed $ 600 ceremony at their Las Vegas Cantina flagship location. In May, Taco Bell registered over 165 couples. The brand has also teamed up with the fast-mode retailer Forever 21 to sell clothing with its logo and image.
Mike Kelly, co-founder and CEO of State of Mind Partners, said a branded hotel wouldn't be right for any fast food chain. But it suits Taco Bell, he said.
"I think there are some brands that have this fan base and they also have these crazy branded products," Kelly said.
