Stolen LAPD vehicle pursuit ends with driver in custody after a quick push-up session – NBC Los Angeles



A man led Los Angeles police on a bizarre hunt after stealing a police car on Saturday night.

Our Newschopper4 was over the pursuit around 7:20 when the driver was on 5 Freeway near East Los Angeles.

The LAPD vehicle was stolen from the Olympic Division and the pursuit followed southbound on Highway 101.

The driver then merged into 5 Freeway and drove without lights on through heavy traffic as he passed Citadel Outlets.

Around 19.42 the man started showing irregular behavior like singing through the police scanner.

As the stolen vehicle approached Irvine on Highway 5, the CHP plant had placed some tip strips to try to slow him down, but around 6 p.m. 1

9.47 the driver stopped completely and got out of the stolen LAPD vehicle with his hands in the air.

The man then lay down on the ground apparently on orders, but then he started doing push-ups.

The LAPD then instructed him to lie down and began to lock him in.

He was taken into custody without retaliation at. 19.48
