‘SNL’ coldly openly mocks Trump, Biden dueling town halls

“Saturday Night Live” satirized President Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s dueling town halls over the weekend by switching back and forth like a viewer watching them on television.

George Stephanopoulos, played by cast member Mikey Day, said ABC was aiming for a “poorly attended college lecture” vibe with Biden’s socially distant town hall. He said the audience consisted of people who were “half pro-Biden and half anti-anti Trump.”

Comedian Jim Carrey repeated his role as “former vice president and future oatmeal spokesman”

; Joe Biden.

“Are you ready for softball questions from people who are already voting for you?” Stephanopoulos asked. He then warned the questioners that they had to limit the number of times they said they hated Trump during their questions.

The channel then switched to NBC, where “surprise bada -” Savannah Guthrie, played by cast member Kate McKinnon, assured viewers who were angry at the network for giving Trump a platform after backing out of the second debate.

“Let me just get a few questions in and I think you will thank me,” she said with a kiss.

She said she had many questions to come to, but she would like to start by “tearing” him “a new one”.

Trump, reproduced by Alec Baldwin, told Guthrie that he “more or less” condemned white supremacy and said his conversation with her was an example of unpleasant Thanksgiving dinners that would be held across the country. “So crazy uncles, stand back and stand by,” he greeted the camera.

The channel then continued to switch between town halls, arriving at one point with Biden telling wandering stories like the time he met the real Mickey Mouse at the World’s Fair in 1939, and then with Trump boasting about his health after coronavirus and his one “beautiful” Remaining lung.

If that woman was not planted by the Trump campaign, “I’m deeply concerned” for her, “Harris / Rudolph said. She noticed that she only nods so much when a waiter asks if she has mimosas with brunch.

Biden also channeled two late icons from public television – Mister Rogers and “The Joy of Painting” host Bob Ross – as audiences tried to stay awake while Guthrie beat Trump with a chair as NBC City Hall was transformed into a WrestleMania- event.
