A spokesman for Snap Inc. told Engadget on Monday that the early tests of his new Android app revealed a 20 percent reduction in the time it takes to open the app. Android users should also be aware of faster lens and story loading times, smoother swiping experience, and better image quality. Snapchat says it will continue to improve the app for Android users.
But Android users can still see some problems. Some features may not work because the app sorts its kinks. For example, Snapchat Charms are still only available on the iOS app.

When the app for choice for teenagers, Snapchat lost his first place status to Instagram last fall. Instagram Stories, basically a clone of Snapcat's popular video feature, seems to work fine on both iOS and Android devices and has a much larger user group. Considering that Snapcat's survival as a social app depends on users being able to connect with all their friends, it is not enough to be Apple-friendly.
