Dustin Diamond is still in the hospital on Wednesday as doctors “run tests” to find out what’s going on with Saved by the clock star – but it remains serious. It is unclear at this time whether the actor has cancer, as originally suspected.
“We get a better answer when all the tests are done,” Diamond’s team tells Yahoo Entertainment. “But they do a lot of tests on him. We just hope for a quick recovery. ”
The 44-year-old actor was hospitalized in Florida over the weekend, but the cause is still unknown. His representatives said Tuesday that they fear it may be cancer, but did not confirm anything on Wednesday. Diamond is backed by his team and girlfriend who appreciates all pleasures.
“He will always remain optimistic – that’s exactly who he is in that regard,” a member of Diamond’s team told Fox News, adding that the actor is “scared but hopeful.”
Diamond is best known for playing Samuel “Screech” Powers in Saved by the clock, Saved by Bell: The College Years and Saved by the clock: The new class. While he is noticeably absent from Peacock’s recent revival, he is not forgotten.
In episode 8 of the reboot, AC Slater (Mario Lopez) explains where Screech has been.
“Screech is so lucky that he and Kevin get to live on the International Space Station, so he doesn’t have to deal with all this,” Slater says. (Kevin was the artificial intelligence robot that Screech built in the original series.)
Diamond has taken a break from Hollywood in recent years.
