The department said more than 20 people were transported to local hospitals “including Sharp Memorial, Palomar Medical Center West, Alvarado, UCSD Medical Center (Hillcrest), Grossmont Hospital, Kaiser Clairemont Mesa, Kaiser Zion and Paradise Valley Hospital.”
Munoz said most of those taken to hospitals are “non-new,” but three people are considered to be in “something to very urgent status.”
She said firefighters were told by units on stage that there were 22 people on board the ship.
The fire department said several federal agencies are helping with the incident.
On the incident page, the department said “SDFD firefighters and lifeguards along with the Federal Fire, US Coast Guard and other local agencies worked together on this incident.”
