“Full disclosure: I showed them Spiderman 1 & 2 and told them it was Deadpool 1 & 2,” Reynolds tweeted, explaining how he convinced Disney to let an R-rated franchise join Mouse House. Deadpool 3 is set to be MCU’s first R-rated film.
Reynolds’ Instagram post is even better: “First Rules of Procedure: Find the Guy Who Killed Bambi’s Mother.”
brought the character to its right after Reynolds’ first, very different portrayal of the hero in the less than memorable X-Men Origins: Wolverine. When Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019, it became the proud new owner of the rights to Marvel’s X-Men characters. Last year, Reynolds said it was “a victory for everyone involved.”
Work is underway on Deadpool 3, and Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed it will be R-rated.
“It’s going to be rated R and we’m working on a script right now and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now,” Feige told Collider during the Disney Plus press for.
But don’t expect it to be finished anytime soon: It looks like filming won’t begin until 2022.
“It’s not filming this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We have a number of things that we have already announced that we have to do now, but it’s exciting that it’s started. Again, a very different type of character in MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature that is just amazing to see him bring this character to life. “
