The Warriors should always be a tax-paying team next season, considering that Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins will cost a total of $ 120 million against the salary cap. That was back when the cap was estimated to be around $ 115 million – back before the NBA experienced an unprecedented closure due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
As games and arenas that are not in operation are not played, the salary cap for the 2020-21 season will be adversely affected. The resulting loss of revenue is expected to significantly reduce the ceiling, perhaps by as much as $ 15 million. Therefore, the tax payment team gets a much bigger bill.
Logically, many of these teams may try to cut costs this season, or at least limit additional expenses, especially those that do not necessarily consider themselves legitimate participants. It remains to be seen how fighters will see themselves in this hierarchy, but as tempting as cutting costs can be, it sounds like they are motivated by another priority.
While Golden State could certainly entertain a number of cost-saving features ̵
“It’s unlikely that Golden State will let a drop in the cap change how it approaches rooster build-up,” the San Francisco Chronicle’s Connor Letourneau wrote Saturday, citing a league source. “[Joe] Lacob realizes that with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green all in their early 30s, the Warriors may only have a window of three or four years to win another title.
“While requiring a massive luxury tax burden, Golden State will do what it can to capitalize on the rest of its core players’ primary years. Something else would go against what this ownership group has come to represent.”

Since Lacob and Peter Guber bought the team in 2012, the Warriors have not shy away from spending large sums on placing a championship game on the field. With Curry, Thompson and Green still in their prime, it’s easy to understand why they might feel comfortable doing it again.
