NEW YORK – Reese Witherspons character, Madeline, on "Big Little Lies" has met her fight in Meryl Streep.
The three-hour Oscar winner joined the cast of the Emmy-winning HBO series like Mary Louise Wright, mother of Perry Wright (played by Alexander Skarsgard in Season One), who died dead at the end of The first season. The grieving mother wants answers and can tell Monterrey 5 know more than they do.
At the New York City Season 2 premiere, with Witherspoon, who also serves as an executive producer, journalists shot Mary Louise and Madeline's relationship "getting better and better and worse and worse."

Besides dealing with an aggressive Mary Louise, Witherspoon says that her character also deals with problems in her marriage and the weight of the secret that women love their loved ones. "I'm trying to keep everyone together and make sure no one is wasting the prayers," she said.
With regard to adding Streep to the television project, already having three Emmy awards, Witherspoon said: "It's a dream come true."
"She used the security she has in her career on a show like this means the world to us, "she added. "There is nothing better than female partnership."
Women certainly lead in front and behind the camera in season 2, like the first season – Andrea Arnold instructed all seven episodes, Nicole Kidman (also plays Celeste Wright), Liane Moriarty (author of the book), and Bruna Papandrea returned as executive producers, and all the major actresses signed again to render their roles.
