Raytheon defeats GE challenge to move engine patent on Federal Circuit



The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Friday reversed a victory for General Electric Co. before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, which had invalidated parts of a Raytheon Technologies Corp patent that covered an aircraft engine.

A panel of three judges reversed the PTAB’s decision that a theoretical engine described in a NASA publication made Raytheon’s invention public because the publication did not allow an ordinary craftsman to make the invention.
