PT can not be downloaded again on PS5, but there is still hope for backward compatibility

PT will not be available for reloading on PS5, but Konami does not rule out that it can be played on the next generation console in other ways. Konami confirmed that those who own PT on PS4 will not be able to talk to GamesRadar. reload the game directly on PS5 as it is no longer available in the PS Store. PT, an influential horror demo designed as a teaser for the canceled Silent Hills, was removed from the store in 2015 after director Hideo Kojima left Konami.

However, reloading PS4 games on PS5 is only a method of transferring current generation games to the next generation, where local wi-fi transfer and external storage are both confirmed as a means of moving compatible games across generations. That leaves the possibility that PT can still be played (and preserved on a new generation of consoles), and that̵

7;s an option Konami is not ruling out right now.Contacted for clarification by IGN, Konami explained that it is currently unable to confirm or deny whether the other methods will result in the game being played. Theoretically, a straightforward data transfer should work, but it is currently unclear whether the game would play as intended on the new hardware.

That said, Sony has not included PT on the short list of games that are definitely not backwards compatible on the PS5. We have contacted Sony to get a comment on this and whether PT could work using data transfer methods.

It’s another step in the messy timeline for PT and Silent Hills – a timeline that has helped make the game a modern gaming urban legend.
