Survival games like No Man’s Sky and Valheim is huge these days, so Abandoned can become a key title in PlayStation 5’s software library. In production by Dutch developer Blue Box Game Studios, the upcoming exclusive release later this year promises a “cinematic, first-person horror survival shooter in a highly detailed open world environment”. Despite the fact that the project is early, visuals are at times dizzying in this trailer.
“The story is centered around Jason Longfield waking up in a strange forest,” reads the PlayStation blog post. “Abandoned and not remembering how he got there, Jason quickly finds out that he was kidnapped and brought there with a dark purpose. Fighting for his survival, his main goal is escape. ”
The title is aimed at realism, so everything you do has a consequence. “If Jason is out of breath after a sprint (or is scared), his accuracy for firing will suffer,”

As a PS5 exclusive, the release has full support for DualSense controller as well as 3D audio functionality. “Our team is still clearing up the power of the PS5, but we’ve made fantastic progress so far,” Kahraman continued. “The console allows us to process motion recording in high quality, all with 60 images per. Second and rendered in a native 4K resolution. We make sure that the environmental quality is as close to the real thing as possible. ”
While the teaser trailer is light on gameplay footage, Blue Box Game Studios promises that it will soon release new footage. This certainly sounds promising and is definitely in the pulse of what is popular at the moment – after all, survival games are bigger than ever. However, as an exclusive PS5, we can not help but feel that this announcement is a bit low-key – maybe the next revelation will really increase interest.
