2nd April 2019 is a great day for the e-mail world, for both good and bad reasons. Not only do we say goodbye to Inbox after four years of greatness, but a new Android app has also arrived, designed to be one of the better inbox replacements we've seen yet. This email app is Spark.
Spark first debuted on iOS a few years back and has established itself as one of the best third-party email apps in the App Store. We have longed for an Android release for some time and from now on it is available as a free download on the Play Store.
So what does Spark do well? There are many things, but especially for former Inbox users, one of the great highlights will be Sparks Smart Inbox feature. This automatically packs your emails into different categories, including things like newsletters, messages, personal, and more. In addition, you can choose to receive notifications only if you receive an email from an important person.
You will also find other features here and there to enable your inbox to be as painless as possible. Spark includes the ability to snooze emails, schedule messages to be sent on a future date, receive reminders / follow-up to emails, pin important emails to your inbox so you don't forget them, and a Smart Search function to find exactly what you need.
Not all features of the Spark iOS app are still available on Android. Developer Readdle says "achieving feature parameters across iOS and Android is a top priority" and that the following features will be available for Android "very soon":
- Integration Partners
- Quick Answers
- Email Templates
- Email Delegation for Teams
If you are interested in trying Spark, it works with Gmail, Yahoo !, Exchange, Outlook, iCloud and IMAP.
