(KUTV) – A man was arrested in connection to the homicide in Salt Lake City.
According to police, Jesse Bruce, 40, was booked into jail for murder.
Police were called to a home in the area of 13th Ave. Northcliffe Drive just after 1:15 am on Thursday. On the 911 call, Bruce said he had stabbed his landlord, court documents state.
Upon arrival, police found 40-year-old Cory Haney deceased with multiple stab wounds.
Bruce was taken to the hospital where he was treated for injuries police did not disclose.
While police tried to interview him, Bruce asked for an attorney. He then blurted out that he stabbed Haney in self-defense, court documents state.
Based on evidence found at the scene, police were reason to believe that Bruce was the aggressor in the deadly confrontation.
