Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine rolls out of production line, new video shows

Pfizer has released footage of a potential coronavirus Pfizer vaccine rolling off the production line – as the drug giant aims to have 100 million doses ready by the end of the year.

The Manhattan-based company told Mail on Sunday that it has already made “hundreds of thousands of doses” of the drug as it prepares to seek emergency use in the United States by November.

The company’s British chief, Ben Osborn, also told the paper that researchers in its main British laboratory have also found drugs that could provide a possible complete cure for Covid-19 as opposed to just a preventative vaccine.

Osborn said the company manufactures the huge stock of its current vaccine candidate in Belgium “at risk and on a large scale”

; and calls it “hugely exciting.”

“The hope here is that we are essentially coming up with a drug that interferes with the virus and ultimately prevents it from worsening a patient’s condition,” he told Mailen’s financial website, This is Money.

“It was great to see the first vial come out of the production line. It just brought a huge smile to my face to see that all this work actually resulted in a product, ”he said.

But “we can only go as fast as science allows us,” he stressed.

Pfizer expects to know if the vaccine works by the end of this month, but the company still needs to prove that the shot is safe and can be manufactured properly to apply for a so-called emergency use permit, CEO Albert Bourla said Friday.

If it is safe, he expects his company to seek emergency use in the United States in the third week of November.

“We work at the speed of science,” he said.
