George Papadopoulos, the former campaign administrator for President Trump, who was imprisoned for lying to the FBI, says he made mistakes but did not regret his involvement in the campaign.
"I'm not sorry at all. It was an event that will never be repeated in history. It was an important event: the 2016 election was a great opportunity," he told Hardtal's Stephen Sackur, adding: "It was disappointing. "Yes, I made mistakes of course. I'm apologetic. I apologized publicly."
Papadopoulos was the first former trumpet assistant arrested in the Russia investigation. He mistakenly claimed that he had met two people with alleged Russian relations prior to working on Donald Trump's campaign in March 201
He was sentenced to 14 days in prison last year to lie to the FBI.
