Oxford stops testing AstraZeneca COVID vaccine in children and adolescents due to blood clots

in a small UK study aimed at evaluating its safety and efficacy in children and teens to wait for further information on rare blood clots found in a small group of adults who received it, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday. The trial began in mid-February and involves more than 200 young people aged 6 to 1

7, the paper said. It quoted an Oxford spokesman as saying the trial had not found any safety concerns but that there were broader concerns and a review of the vaccine by regulators in the UK and European unions. The European Medicines Agency said earlier that it expects to update the public on its investigation into the problem of blood clots later this week.
