Stop me if you've heard it before, but according to OnePlus CEO Pete Lau, wireless charging won't be present in the company's next smartphone. In fact, there is quite the story that we should talk about this. We made it to OnePlus 5T, and so we did for OnePlus 6T.
In essence, Lau believes that wireless charging is simply not efficient or requires enough of its customers to build it into OnePlus smartphones. And honestly he has a point. We ran a poll not long ago backing on his statement. In our studies, 73% of our readers felt that wireless charging was just a bonus feature or didn't care about it. For all the wireless charging fanatics here, sorry, but it looks like you're in the minority. At least, for now …
As it says, OnePlus has one of the fastest led charging solutions on the market. OnePlus phones charge exceptionally fast, which can charge a battery to 1
I'm not here to say that wireless charging is overestimated or adding fuel to any hot take fire, but what I say is just because OnePlus 7 doesn't have wireless charging doesn't mean OnePlus still weighs it an opportunity for future smartphones. According to CNET who spoke to Lau, the company is actively working to accelerate the delivery of wireless power, but still has not figured out how to do it without causing too much heat.
Hang in there wireless chargers fans.
