Officials are discussing gang-related arrests, gun seizures in the Orlando area



Orange County Sheriff John Mina and law enforcement officials from the Orlando Police Department and the FBI updated the public on Friday about gang violence in Orange County and what is being done. According to Orange County Sheriff John Mina, more than 75 gang-related arrests have been made recently and more than 50 guns have been taken out of gangs’ hands. Of those 50 cannons, Mina said 18 of them were stolen. “The Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the Orlando Police Department, the FBI, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement … we all work to ensure the safety of our community,” Mina said. According to Orlando Police Department Deputy Chief Jose Velez, Orlando has seen 200 shootings so far this year, the vast majority of which are gang-related, Velez said.
