Nvidia brings its RTX 3080 to laptops on January 26th

Less than six months after the introduction of its RTX 3000 series GPUs for desktops, Nvidia is bringing the RTX 3060, RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 to gaming laptops. Nvidia promises huge energy efficiency gains here thanks to its new Ampere architecture along with the obvious improvements over the previous laptops in the RTX 2000 series.

More than 70 gaming laptops will be available with the new RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 mobile GPUs on January 26th, and RTX 3060 laptops will follow on February 2nd. Prices start at $ 999 for the RTX 3060 models.

RTX 3060 laptops, which Nvidia says are 1.3 times faster than PS5, start at $ 999. RTX 3070 laptops start at $ 1,299, and Nvidia says they are up to 1.5 times faster than previous RTX 2070 systems and they deliver 90 fps at 1440p.

RTX 3080 laptops start at $ 1,999 and can hold up to 16 GB of GDDR6 memory – more than what is available on the RTX 3080 desktop GPU page. Nvidia claims that these laptops deliver over 100 fps at 1440p.

These laptops use the third generation of Nvidia’s Max-Q. The Max-Q variants are designed for thinner and lighter gaming laptops and are designed to squeeze most of the GPU power from an RTX 3000 series card into a more thermally limited chassis. Nvidia and laptop manufacturers are adapting drivers and thermal and electrical components to make this a reality.

Nvidia says that this latest generation of Max-Q laptops will deliver twice as much performance as the previous generation. Nvidia uses a new Dynamic Boost 2.0 technology in these laptops that uses artificial intelligence to balance power between CPU, GPU and GPU memory. It works per. Framework, which means a laptop can balance its power needs in real time.

These RTX 3080 laptops must also be powerful enough to handle Microsoft Flight Simulator, a demanding title. Nvidia demonstrated a Razer Blade 15 operating a full Flight Simulator rig during its CES keynote today.

Nvidia is also introducing WhisperMode 2.0 with these RTX 3000 Series laptops. You can select different acoustic levels, and AI controls the fan speeds and game settings to stay at the desired sound level.

We expect to hear a lot more soon from manufacturers about new updates for gaming laptops at CES 2021. Stay tuned The edge to all the latest gaming announcements about laptop.
