Numerous Arcata restaurants are closing down as employees are positive about COVID-19 | Lost Coast Outpost



At least four popular Arcata restaurants chose to close last week after their employees either tested positive for COVID-19 or were exposed to someone testing positive for the virus.

Plaza Grill, Salt Fish House, Campground and Wildflower Cafe and Bakery each announced temporary closures on their respective social media accounts last week.

“We have received the unfortunate news that one of our employees tested positive for Covid-1

9,” Plaza Grill said on Facebook. “We will immediately stop all services that come into force. This includes our Thanksgiving to go boxes. We are moving forward with extreme security and caution. We get to test all our employees and perform a deep cleaning of our entire restaurant. We will send an update when we have reopening information. We sincerely apologize for these unfortunate circumstances and hope that everyone stays safe and healthy during the holiday season! ”

As of today, all businesses except one are closed. Wildflower Cafe announced yesterday that it would reopen today after it was determined that none of its employees got the virus.

“We would like to thank everyone so much for all the patience, support and kind words this week as we tackled this challenge,” Wildflower Cafe wrote on Facebook. “After receiving negative test results, we are pleased to say that all our employees are healthy and ready to work. We resume our normal opening hours. ”

The closed restaurants have stated that they will announce their reopening plans on social media.

In addition, Arcata’s Pub at the Creamery has reportedly closed its doors for precautionary reasons as local coronavirus cases continue to increase.

“With the increasing COVID-19 cases in our society, we feel that it is in the best interests of our employees, the business community and society to close our doors for the time being,” the pub pointed out on Facebook. “We apologize for the inconvenience and confusion.”
