UNITED NATIONS – North Korea's UN ambassador says the Trump administration should consider the possible consequences that a North Korean cargo ship could have on the relations between the two countries and immediately return the ship.
Kim Song said at a press conference on Tuesday that the "horrible act" of seizing the ship was aimed at putting maximum pressure on North Korea to "kneel down".
He said it was "a direct denial of the underlying spirit" June 12, 2018, joint statement by President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un "committed to establishing new bilateral relations."
Kim reiterated that he had requested Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to take "urgent action" to contribute to the stability of the Korean Peninsula.
Kim said "we look sharp at all" US moves.
