An animal rescue group in North Carolina asked for discarded bras to repair broken turtles.
The Associated Press reported that Carolina Waterfowl Rescue is asking women to remove the clips from their braces, old or new, and send them in to the address listed here.
"If you throw a bra, you can cut off the locks and send them to us, we use them for turtle repair," the group wrote in a post on Thursday, which has since raised more than 8,500 shares.
Wildlife Sanctuary also points out animal warders on their Amazon Smile charity site for things to buy for the turtles as well as their main donation page on their cash donation website that they use to buy medicines for the animals. 1
"We don't care if they are worn or not or new or old. It should look like the picture below when you send it to you," they added while including a picture of a pair of bra & # 39 and another show how they use the clips to repair turtles.
According to The Associated Press, the nonprofit group has saved up to 40 turtles on a weekly basis since last month. A number of the damaged turtles they rescue have reportedly had their shells broken by cars and mowers.
