Nintendo animated movies probably on the way – / movies

more Nintendo animated films

Nintendo has a great animated movie on the way: a Super Mario movies that come from MinionManufacturers at Illumination. And now it seems like it̵

7;s just the beginning. While the details remain vague, there is plenty of talk within the company about developing other animated feature films to follow Mario. Nintendo has been notoriously stand-offish in adapting its titles to movies ever since live-action Super Mario Bros. film refueled at the box office. But that seems to be changing, albeit slowly.

Sometime next year, everyone’s favorite Italian plumber returns to the big screen with an animation Super Mario movie. The film is produced by Illumination, the studio responsible for Minions film, which is enough to immediately give me a break. But maybe things will be fine! Nintendo definitely hopes so because they want to keep this animated movie idea going.

Talking to Fast Company, Nintendo’s global president Shuntaro Furukawa said: “Animation is generally something we look at, and not just this franchise.” However, Nintendo still intends to be picky about what they produce. “Although the ways we expand our IP are increasing, we are very, very careful about where and how our IP is licensed,” Furukawa added. “We do not use our characters and worlds only to increase public exposure.”

Nintendo has been afraid to adapt their titles to movies in the wake of live-action Super Mario Bros. film from 1993. This film was a notorious box office and critical disappointment, and Nintendo does not want another of them on their hands. As the Fast Company article adds, “Furukawa says about a decade ago that the company decided to get serious about maximizing the creativity, quality and overall Nintendo ness of its out-of-game presence.”

Furukawa added that any project adapted to one of their games “should ensure that the results are consistent with the players’ experiences and that they will never prevent Nintendo’s developers from making another unique game with the same characters.”

So far, Nintendo seems to be moving cautiously. That Super Mario movies remain secret – there is no official release date yet, we do not know the plot, we do not even know who is expressing the characters. All we can say for now is that the film opens once in a while 2022. If that’s a big hit, you can expect Nintendo to move on with more titles. If it’s not, well … let’s let them worry about it when and if it happens.
