NFL updates COVID-19 test protocols for newly acquired players

The NFL released a note on Friday updating the COVID-19 test protocols for newly acquired players.

NFL free agents and players acquired from other teams start the clock on their six-day COVID-19 entry test process on the day they arrive, even if they are not tested on day one, reports Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.

The new decision takes effect on Saturday, October 17th.

“Starting with players arriving at a new club on Saturday, October 1

7, the trial period for Tryout and Free Agent players and players acquired from other clubs begins upon arrival at the club, even if they arrived at the new club after that the club’s daily PCR test window is already closed, ”the note reads. As such, they are treated in the same way as free agents and tryout players. “
