NFL, NFLPA Accepts Updated COVID-19 Protocols for Training Camp, Preseason

Persons who are not fully vaccinated, including players, are prohibited from gathering outside club facilities or team travel. NFL players who are not fully vaccinated are prevented from going to nightclubs, bars, house parties, concerts, etc. Failure to comply with the protocols could result in fines of $ 50,000 for a first offense.

One difference that Pelissero notes could have major competitive implications is that a fully vaccinated person who has been exposed to a coronavirus-positive person will not be labeled a high-risk, high-risk person, so they will not be subject to a mandatory five-day isolation.

Coaches and staff who are not fully vaccinated ̵

1; and do not have religious or medical exceptions – are not eligible for Level 1 or 2 status in the training camp and are therefore not allowed to work personally with players. For example, a strength and conditioning trainer must be fully vaccinated to be in a weight room with players. If it is an indoor weight room, players who are not fully vaccinated should train with their masks on. For coaches who are fully vaccinated, there is no longer a need for facial coatings, which was a hallmark of the 2020 season, such as Chiefs head coach Andy Reid’s face shield or other coaches who were fined for not always wearing theirs.

For all unvaccinated people during the trip, it is forbidden to gather with external guests in hotel rooms, see family and friends, etc.

There will also be significant changes for members of the media and fans.

Fully vaccinated media members are allowed to conduct personal interviews, which was banned throughout the 2020 season. In contrast, media members who have not been fully vaccinated are not allowed access to the press box, the field, the sideline and the changing rooms.

Although fans are not allowed to interact with players, they are allowed to attend training camps. They must remain more than 20 feet from Tier 1 personnel, including players, and adhere to physical distance.
