Neil deGrasse Tyson warns that the asteroid could hit Earth the day before the election

It’s a way of rocking the ballot.

An asteroid the size of a refrigerator could hit the ground the day before the election in November, according to celebrity researcher Neil deGrasse Tyson – but it’s not big enough to do any serious damage.

The famous astrophysicist said that the space rock, known as 2018VP1, throws itself towards Earth at a speed of 25,000 miles per hour and possibly rocks the planet on November 2nd.

“It could hum the earth on November 2, the day before the presidential election,” he wrote on Instagram.

But he added that the flying object is not something to lose sleep in, as “it is not big enough to cause harm.”

“So if the world ends in 2020, it will not be the fault of the universe,” he said.

NASA had previously identified the asteroid rocketing to Earth, but put its chances of actually hitting at less than 1 percent.

“It currently has a 0.41% chance of entering the atmosphere of our planet, but if it did, it would disintegrate due to its extremely small size,” the space agency said.
